WebDec 22, 2008 · There's a misunderstanding here. He's asking about the idler/pitman arm to drag link nuts. They should be torqued to 35 ft lbs (same for the tie rod ends). The 1 5/16" pitman arm to steering box nut is torqued 140 ft lbs. Once you hit 35 ft lbs on your torque wrench, tighten the nuts just enough to place the cotter key through the castle nut.
