The port sizes are middle of the road between pass car and Cabra Jet. 2.20" x 1.93" intake and 2.06" x 1.31" on the exhaust. Valves are 2.19" intake and 1.72" exhaust. and the combustion chambers come in at 87 to 90 cc's WebJun 1, 2002 · Even though the SCJ heads are really designed for big cams and high rpm, they still kicked ass on this relatively mild engine, gaining 46 hp and nearly 35 lb-ft of torque over the iron heads....

The exhaust port shape is restricted quite a bit, and porting helps. After proper porting, all three casting flow the same. It should be noted, not only for these factory cast iron heads, that not only should the exhaust be ported, but the intake as well.

If you cut them much you'll spring a leak as they are a little thin in the short side radius.

With these ported stock heads you have to forget about the so called "ideal" exhaust to intake ratio and make up the difference with camshaft duration split. It works. The earlier castings gave you high compression raios. For instance I have a D1VE block out of a 76 Lincoln with D3VE heads.
