WebJun 17, 2024 · No I haven’t replaced the bearings. I’m working on a new to me 044. The only thing I’ve done is put a carb kit and a fuel line on it. I’ve been having trouble getting the idle dialed in, so I tried a pressure/vac test and noticed that leak. When I pulled that bushing out, I noticed it was missing the o-ring. Very often if you are not running the saw at full speed the oil in the engine will not burn completely and will cool in the muffler and create a very sticky black tar like oil. The solution for this is to always run the saw at full speed.
